QUOTE (L3afsFAN @ May 6 2009, 09:40 AM)
wiki has no credibility. Everyone knows that. [I'm not trying to be negative to 'L3afsFAN', just saying]. However, hhof.com says November 8th, that is a source I usually trust. My source may be wrong. then again this link says it was the 7th ; http://www.goaliesar.../indexhall.html
Then again this source :
http://books.google....um=14#PPA106,M1 **** see page 106 ****
says that Hall hurt his back before practice on the the 6th, he started the next night, the 7th, but had to leave the game and the streak was officially considered to have ended when he failed to start the Hawks next game on the 10th.
edit - actually based on how the question was posed and the fact it mentions that Hall played every minute of every game the streak would have ended in the Hawks game on November 4th against Detroit. Hall started 502 consecutive games and more research {http://www.hockey-re...963_games.html} would indicate that it actually was the 7th and not the 8th. But the streak for every minute of every game would be 501 and ended on Nov 4th.

edit - and btw to answer the why more completely every source says that he bent over to adjust a strap on his pads and hurt his back

Most of what I remember about the streak was that one of his coaches said he used to get very ill before games and all he could drink was orange juice. The sicker he got, the better he played. The first part is true, I think the OJ is hearsay. I'm going with OJ shortage or his back, I think that eventually ended him. Didn't he have some weird accident where he fell and put his back out?

QUOTEOn November 8, 1962, the record streak finally came to an end against the Boston Bruins; Hall had back problems. Denis DeJordy won replaced him during the game. Hall managed to play 502 consecutive complete games, which spanned eight seasons, an NHL record that will probably never be broken.
