For next season, i'm thinking of changing the format to offensive player of the game and defensive player of the game. That way players like Gunnerson, Kulemin, and Crabb get some well deserved mentions

With how bad the defensive play was (not just by the defencemen, but overall), the goalies had to stand out in a lot of games, and Gus was easily the best of them this year.
I'm also not surprised that Grabs came through as the best forward on the team.

I would suggest an offensive player of the game, defensive POTG, and then an overall POTG.Well its official guys. The player of the season (if you want to call it that) is Gustavsson. Shocking I know.

It's really a shame...Gustavsson has been the best and most consistent goalie for the Leafs this year...never was given credit by Wilson for keeping us in the playoff race in December and January. Gus should be brought back but probably won't be due to circumstance...Gus will star for another team...too bad for Leafs nation.
How ironic that we have had one of our worst seasons in recent memory and sufferred perhaps our worse freefall in franchise history and you guys are once again extolling the virtues of a subpar goaltender.
These threads were a good idea but many resulted in posters having differing views as to who the POTG was. Eventually oen of you would declare that Gustavson was it.
Proves nothing except that your blind loyalty is laughable

I don't know many teams out there in the NHL that just gives up on their best and most consistent goalie all year...giving up on Gustavsson is a mistake...mark my words.I'm not hugely surprised.

Perhaps it proves that you weren't looking at it properly, and that you personally are showing a bias against one particular player.
Yes Jamason I am biased (although that is a rather weak word ) ((perhaps enraged, indignant or furious would be bettter ))against a bad goalie with fundamental flaws. I am also irked by those who are blind to his many faults and continue to extol his virtues
Oh and I decided that Lupul won more player of the games than all other Leafs put together so I guess it's official Lupul is our player of the year LMFAO
Oh ya I almost forgot GUSSY's GONE! GUSSY's GONE[attachment=47:banana002.gif]

Did you actually pay attention to what happened this past year??

Let me quickly summarize for you...Reimer gets hurt...Gus comes in and played well (ask Burkie)...then Reimer comes back and plays poorly in December (loses 3 in a row)...Gus plays most of January and has 3 shutouts with 7 wins...then Wilson decides to go back to the "guy who is supposed to be our #1 goalie" in February...what a big mistake and the team tanks in February. The reality is that no-one can really fault Gus as he only started 3 games in all of February after earning the right to be the #1 goalie for this team. If Wilson had left Gus the starting goalie for this team, we probably would be talking about the playoffs right now...not a lottery pick.
