Lupul Out With Separated Shoulder,Ashton Called Up


The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that forward Joffrey Lupul will be out of the lineup for an estimated three to four weeks with a separated shoulder. Colby Armstrong is listed as day-to-day with a broken nose. Both players were injured during the second period of last night’s game at home against Boston.

The hockey club also announced that forward Carter Ashton has joined the Maple Leafs on an emergency basis from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). Ashton, 20, was a first-round draft choice (29th overall) of Tampa Bay in the 2009 Entry Draft and he was obtained on February 27 from the Lightning in exchange for Keith Aulie. Ashton has one goal and one assist in three AHL games since the trade. Before his Marlies’ debut last week, he had 19 goals and 16 assists in 56 games this season with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL). He has not appeared in an NHL regular season game in his career.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is the son of former NHL player, Brent, who played in 998 career NHL games over 14 seasons.

Some talk of Marty Turco not clearing waivers tomorrow. If claimed by another team,he can't play. Bruins will use him in games if he clears.

Turco would be ineligible if claimed by another team for remaining reg season and playoffs because he didn't sign before trade deadline.

Wow, some GM's pulling a huge **** move. Hilarious. Someone just really hates Boston and wants to give Chiarelli the finger.

Cause I'm pretty sure any claimed players have to join the active roster, but can't play in any games, so it effectively reduces your max roster size to 22, just to keep Turco away from Boston.

So, in the injury report it says Clarke MacArthur nose? So, is he still in the line up? I thought it was Colby Armstrong out with the nose injury?

I have heard nothing serious about Mac.. Probably just a typo, ..like that guy Seer does all the time...? LOL!

You've got to love these Marlie stats, Seer! Also have to give you props for all the fantastic game threads! You put a lot of work into keeping everyone informed about both the Leafs and the Marlies in here. My buddies at work just rant about you and how they can come to a game thread and basically get most of the info. in one place. The boss just turned off the Marlie game. I guess we are getting told to get back from lunch? Thanks for that link, too, buddy! Last thing I heard, the Marlies were down 1-0, in the second period.

Wishing Ashton a fantastic game tonight, as well as the rest of the team. Last night was a great game, no matter what anyone says. New BIO's have been written for Slyro, TheDorkKnight & Sluggo... on the first page of this thread...

The DorkKnight replaces Zizzzy on forward line, as Ziz is taking some time off to plant his Spring crops.. (some believe.., that he has actually gone off to make "crop circles", in England..).
