Here is a 2012 Mock Draft based on what teams would likely pick if we were to finish with the standings as they are today.

I will update this Mock Draft as I receive the updated lists.

At least it gives us something to look forward to.

Not a lot of Johnny's, Bobby's, Tim's or Wayne's there eh? :)

Nope not a very deep draft and Yakupov is out with a concussion besides that . The Leafs had better take a center if they can get one that is decent .

Didn't Gary Roberts say that Brendan Gaunce would be NHL ready next season? I admit I don't know anything about him but at 6'-2" and 205 lbs and a centre, thats what we're looking for isn't it?

Cetainly the Leafs are looking for a few good men and a center would help but every GM will tell you when it comes to the draft and your turn to pick you take the best possible player no matter what position he plays . That mentality is how they increase the odds of getting a better prospect .
It takes a couple of years for prospects to make any kind of impact and a teams needs should change in that time space . Unless it happens to be Burke and the Leafs .

The Leafs can't afford to turn down a good prospect for a lesser one based on position played that would be foolish since the Leafs need improvement in so many areas . The draft picks and their probable slection position can and likely will change before the draft along with where the teams pick . It is just too early to tell how it all plays out .

The Leafs need to target a 1st round draft choice that is within reach . Knowing Burke he is liable to cash in his pick if he can get a deal for a so called star player .

well if burke traded for one of the 4 first round picks he was offered, there would've been a chance for our top 5 pick and another pick probably between 10-20.

Its amazing how far down the draft Cherry's ONTARIO BORN players are in this pool. Gaunce seems to be the best FLC option with the size to take on the likes of Boston.

Do you guys want me to bring back the draft section? Usually we wait until the season is over, but I could open it, at least it's something to look forward to.

I think it is a good idea. Especially as we still have our first.

ok it's open and I'm going to move this there and pin it so it doesn't get lost among the complaining on the main board.

:-), great idea. I never ever imagined looking forward to a lottery pick this year, but it is what it is and I will take any positive thing you can give right about now.

Burke might even be persuaded by another GM to move down in the draft, still get Gaunce and another player in compensation. I don't like our drafting record in the slightest and this might be a way to make it work.

Point per game player right now, plus he fights a bit too. I'd say that is exactly what we are looking for down the middle.

Well, you know what I mean. We swap positions with Calgary say, and they give us their second round pick as compensation.

If BB takes anything but a player with the REAL potential to be a #1C then the fans should be calling for him to get fired.

If we've seen anything in the past 3 years, or since Sundin left, is that it is really hard to get young, legit talent via trade or FA.

Sundin didn't have a Kessel, Kessel doesn't have a Sundin....and it's totally true. We need to draft our next Sundin, our next Kessel or else we will never get the top two lines loaded with the top tier talent that we need to win the Cup.

We NEED to try for Grigorenko, if not then Gaunce, if not then take the risk with Galchenyuk. (and I only know what I have read about these guys but they seem like the obvious choices.)

Gaunce will not be a top line center... And hes not that rough either... Faska is the best option if we cant get Gally... He is like a bigger landeskog who plays center... Hes pretty under rated.

Sounds to me like you have never watched these guys.
