Dave Nonis and Brian Burke are sitting watching a Leafs game from the GM's box seats when the crowd starts to chant "fire Brian Burke, fire Brian Burke, fire Brian Burke".

Brian Burke - "Say Dave, what are those fans chanting down there anyway"?

Dave Nonis - "Oh, um, (bead of perspiration appears on Dave's brow) I think they're saying 'hire Ryan Flurke, hire Ryan Flurke, hire Ryan Flurke' ".

BB - "Hire Ryan Flurke? What sense does that make? Who's this Flurke guy?"

DN - "Never heard of him boss. But you know our fans. They'd hire anybody".

BB - (chuckles a little), "Ain't that the truth?" (takes drink of beer and gives himself foam mustache)

I moved this from another thread because I thought it was more appropriate here.

Leafs are officialy the laughing stock of the NHL LOSER since 1967 and No Playoffs since Lockout. Time to burn my jersey and get a new hobby, maybe golf that way i have a better chance of meeting the Leaf players.Grabage.

Gentlemen, it's time to get that draft pick.

Looks like we got ourselves our own Ben Bishop with The Bus.

I hope finishing in last place will motivate the buds to do better next season.

I think its best Reimer sit out the rest of the season and let Jussi play the rest of the season.

GET WELL REIMS!

Thanks again to Seer for the thread. Its hard enough posting here but doubly hard to get the nerve to make'em in the first place.

You know it's gonna happen too. The Canes are gonna take our castoffs and use them against us.
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

That picture is hilarious, Taco.

I hope it works out for Monster. I hope it works out for him here! But it's looking less and less likely at this point.

Leafs Knocked Out Of Playoff Contention

TORONTO -- The precipitous fall of the Toronto Maple Leafs is complete.

A 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night officially eliminated the Leafs from playoff contention in the Eastern Conference, extending the franchise-worst streak to seven seasons.

It was only fitting that the final blow came on home ice. Hours after new coach Randy Carlyle called the team's play at Air Canada Centre ``unacceptable,'' they fell behind 3-0 early in the second period and lost their 10th straight game in front of the disgruntled home fans.

The building began to empty long before the final horn sounded on Cam Ward's 21st career shutout. The Hurricanes goalie finished with 32 saves.

Jussi Jokinen, Tim Brent and Jay Harrison scored goals for Carolina (31-31-15), which kept its own slim playoff hopes alive for at least one more day.

The Maple Leafs saw their record fall to 33-35-9 after being shut out for the seventh time this season. Four of those have come in the past 10 games.

There was very little suspense on a night that saw Carolina grab a 2-0 lead in the first period. Leafs starter Jonas Gustavsson was deep in his net on both shots, allowing Jokinen to beat him with a backhander at 13:05 and Brent to roof a shot at 18:19.

The second goal brought on boos that would only intensify when Harrison floated a wrist shot past Gustavsson 37 seconds into the second period.

Carlyle responded by sending in Jussi Rynnas for the first NHL action of his career. The 24-year-old Finn had been called up earlier in the day after expected starter James Reimer was ruled out with an upper-body injury.

The Leafs attempted to come on from there _ outshooting the Hurricanes 12-7 in the middle period _ but the damage was already done and Ward wasn't going to be beaten.

Toronto has been left beaten and bruised after a shocking collapse that started in the wake of its last home victory on Feb. 6. The team sat sixth in the conference at that point, but has gone 5-16-3 since, costing former coach Ron Wilson his job and almost certainly a few others when general manager Brian Burke starts assessing the damage this summer.

Carlyle delivered strong words about his team's play on home ice prior to the game.

``We have to demonstrate some more will, pride, passion, whatever _ because this has gone on long enough,'' he said after the morning skate. ``That was our message after practice (Monday): That it's unacceptable to have the home record that we have right now.''

It was to no avail. There was almost none of it on display.

Starting Thursday night against Philadelphia, the Leafs have three more chances to try and get a victory at home this season. Otherwise, they'll have gone more than eight weeks in their own building without one to close the year.

Notes: Toronto fell to 4-7-2 under Carlyle ... Carolina won three of four games against the Leafs this season ... Toronto forward Mike Brown returned to the Leafs lineup after missing nine games with a thigh contusion ... Alternate captains Mike Komisarek and Colby Armstrong were scratched ... Announced attendance was 19,348.

I feel bad for Gustavsson. I think he would have been a good one but his confidence level is so shaky that he lost it all when our last coach kept jerking him around.

Also, Francois Allaire hasn't done him any good that I can see.

Hey, I was on board with the math, until it didn't work. Sorry bud, this game ended up being our earliest elimination in years! Now that that's happened, a draft pick is our BEST option right now. I'm still a fan and I'll never stop Be-Leafing. Cheers to the playoffs next year! Our franchise home record FRANCHISE BREAKING straight loss home record is DISGUSTING! SHAMEFUL and I don't care what you think to the contrary Seer. Right now, WE SUCK and play just like it.

Don't know how/why you got anything negative from this pic, Buddy..? It is just "colored thread" spools & was a joke.. :)

I think his days as a goalie coach are near an end... He's been around a long, long time.. and his methods are now archaic, to most.. and.. most teams have his style all figured out, so it is easy for them to score on his students..

Gus, Reims, Scrivs & Rynnas will all do much better to just get back to their own styles & move ahead...

Toronto needs to let Allaire go, immediately...

Eh, the tankers will probably be around.

Also some people might show up for the season closer. Habs and Leafs draw a crowd no matter what the stakes are.

Not at all..., Todd... I think it is your right & choice to be peed-off right now... I just saw it coming after the first five minutes of the game... and... although I may appear to be a blind, pom-pom waiver, I really knew our season wasn't going to last, weeks ago...

I just choose to be positive... Onto a summer of Golf Tournament watching, for me... I will still do the rest of the GT"s for the season, though... and I will be glad to see what happens in the Draft this summer... I always check in a few times a week at least, in the off season..

I know... Although I only joined up a year ago January here, I looked at this site for a couple of years before that... I know to "expect" more haters to arrive shortly.. Doesn't make any difference to me, though..., Taco... I may be disappointed a bit, but nothing that would affect my outlook on "real life"... Just will be looking forward to next season...

I can handle it... I just might post different kinds of videos for them, though... LOL!
