G.O.A.T. started a great thread giving kudos to Phil Kessel.. and I would like to give thanks to Jake Gardiner, for being our best rookie, this season...

7 goals... 23 assists... for 30 points, in 75 games up here this season.... His 1st year in the NHL... and he did this without spending a full season in the AHL... Quite an accomplishment..!

On top of that..., Jake finished the season with the highest +/- percentage of all our D-Men on the team (-2). He also racked up a mere 18 penalty minutes, all season...

Jake was in the Marlies earlier this season for one game..and also got one point, in that one game. He now heads back fro the MARLIE's remaining regular season games.. and into AHL playoffs. The word is, he will be the quarterback of the power-play, down there...

I made a thread in September entitled: "START THE SEASON WITH GARDINER...!" Most thought I was crazy for suggesting that we have a College boy start in the NHL, but I had tracked Jake since 2008. He was like Kessel was this season, when he was in College.. a point/per game D-man... (actually, a little better than that).

I will stick my neck out "again" and suggest that he will eventually bring those numbers to the NHL... It may take 2 or 3 seasons, but I see so much more potential in this young man...!

Someone needs to do a Jake Gardiner Tribute video on You-Tube.., but for now.., here's a couple of his recent goals with the Leafs. I will add more as the thread goes on...

THANK YOU, JAKE GARDINER! .. AND ALL THE BEST, IN THE MARLIE PLAYOFFS..!

Even my cat here (click on the pic below to enlarge) is excited about the upcoming Marlie games.. :D

Well... to be fair, Pawch... Dion got 44 points in 82 games... and is 5th on our points stats..

Although, I saw just about as many goals against us that were his fault, too.., so there is no way he should be making the salary he does.. (but that's for another thread in here, because this is about Gards.. ;) ).

We DO have one of the best (if not, THE best?... Taco..?) NHL Rookie D-men of the 2011-12 season, though..!

Is this kid a gem or what?
he's a keeper.
See B.B did awesome with this and Lupul coming over together.

Boston vs. Toronto playoff series.

Phil Kessel - 4 goals

Tyler Seguin - 0 goals

To be fair Seer Dion was awarded that contract while he was playing for Calgary. I agree Jake has been a bright spot for the majority of the season. It was nice to see him lead the play towards the end of the season. Jake Gardiner has a very bright future with the Leafs ( if Burke doesnt trade him for you-know-who ).

I know... I am actually one of the few that supports Burke here, OML... I just think that Dion & Komi were two of his biggest mistakes (especially, with their huge salaries)... Everyone makes mistakes, though... If they all even out in the wash, it will be fine with me...

This coming draft.. and what trades/changes are made this summer, will be the real gauge, for me... Thank God, we are going to have new ownership in control..!

I would doubt that he plays back-to-back games, when they have already clinched first place in their Division, True..., but I haven't found anything this morning that says when/who will be sent down, yet... I'll post it in the MARLIE thread here, when/if I do...

I was also wondering.. Since "Crabby-Joe" & Rosie are also listed on the Marlies Stats sheet, if they will also be going down..? I know "Frat-Man" & Scrivs will be, but no one has said much about these other two.. Ashton played yesterday, with the Marlies.., though..

Just like last night's game... Not much was said about Grabo starting, either..

So.. who knows..? Gards could be playing...today..?

I know when Kadri went down last, he played back to back with the Leafs, Friday and Saturday and then played an afternoon game with the Marlies on Sunday, :-). I am thinking it would be a good idea to get Gards, Frat, and Scriv into at least one regular season game before the playoffs start.

I agree with you.., but I've also noticed that Gards has dropped a lot of weight recently, so he "may" want to have a rest..? But again..., you might be right & that Eakins wants to work him in right away.. (although I doubt it will take very long, because when he was thrown in earlier this season for a game, he still got that one point right away.. :) )

They have three games remaining, so he could always play Friday & Saturday.. and just work out & pig out this week..?

We might just have to be patient & wait until later on to see...

*SIDENOTE: Will you guys change those tank avatars soon..? Because I am starting to want to put peace signs everywhere to counter-balance things... LOL! )

My bad I thought their last game was today.

Hey Seer, will you be doing a DT thread for each Marlie game in the post season. I think this would be a good idea. I know I am looking forward to watching these guys play.

Anybody know if Leafs TV will be picking up the playoff games for the Marlies?

Love watching this guy skate, end to end, nothing fancy, uses his edges very well makes him look effortless.

I have a MARLIE thread pinned (thanks to Beergirl) in here, True... (this main board)..

I posed the question about if anyone wanted GT's for these games, but no one answered it.... I also asked Beergirl IF.. we could do this & she hasn't answered that question yet, because MLSE wasn't too keen about a Marlie thread in the Leaf section (as there is a Marlie section, on it's own.. and they also have a BLOG section in their own site.., but I don't see a board in there..?)

I think it would be good to do, but to be honest.. I just did EVERY pre-season AND every regular season game thread.. I would enjoy some time off from this until next pre-season... BUT.., I will do some of them, if no one else gets them started ... I just can't commit to every game, right now... If we do, they won't be as in depth as the Leaf ones..., though.. We will have to wait for Beergirl to give us the okay for "this section", but I bet we could do them in the Marlies section, if not in here..? (again.. we will need Beergirl's approval, first, though).

..Still lots of time, as they haven't even set a date & match-ups yet for the first games, because Regular Season is still on going..

I wish you didn't put a potential hex on him by predicting his future point accumulation. This guy isn't the second coming of Bobby Orr yet, he just skates and plays like him.
