Im all for signing some vets like Malone and Clowe and Vokoun and trying to build from there, but theres no doubt to be a cup contending team some of our prospects are gonna have to really suprise us and be stars out of know where.
I think trading Kessel would be a mistake but if it starts us off with a really nice rebuild i would be good with it... A trade like this is what it would take...
Kessel
Franson
Colborne
2nd round pick
Huberdeau
Gudbrandson
Thats a risk for both teams, Floridas players may have more upside but its just potential, Kessels the real deal and Franson will be a solid top 4 d man there and Colbornes a nice 1st round pick with size to add to the collection.
I would do this trade because it solitifes our d core and makes us a STRONG defensive team in the years ahead while it gives us a nice 1st line center for the future with the speed of Kessel but more grind and around the net play with not as good of a shot. Dont know if Dale Tallon would do this, but if they want to keep up in the east then it could be a good move for them, im sure Kessel would light it up there.
Blow it up?

They won't trade Kessel without getting a ridiculous return after finishing near the tops in scoring and what they paid for him. Take out Colborne then you're getting somewhere value wise.
The Leafs don't do this because they want to win now though, and Florida would probably not like the asking price overall.

Is school that boring that you have time to think this stuff up????? You really think Burke is going to trade his prized possession???? I think you best put your head back in the Math book.
Burke won't trade him, but he should.
