Hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys read in the Toronto Sun that the locker room was extremely divided during the Carolina ECF series where the leafs lost in 6 games. Apparently the problem was with 4 players doing things similar to Radulov, Kostitsyn. Anyone know anything else?

I believe it was:

Darcy Tucker, Shane Corson, Travis Green and one other.

There was a huge divide among these guys in the locker room (allegedly)

Also, I'm pretty sure the other one was Cory Cross.

I remember hearing about this yes. If you remember back then it was corson who suddenly came up with the mysterious illness, or actually it was panic attacks or something of that nature, and he didn't show up when they needed him down the stretch in the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise me there were definitely some issues there.

Fast forward for a bit, and apparently we are having the same problem with the guys in the locker room now!!! Half the team was in favor of Wilson, and some out right hated him and wanted someone else (carlyle in this case). We better find out who is sulking and creating the rift in the locker room now and get rid of them before things get even worse. Missing the playoffs again would be crippling.

I have it on an inside source (yes, you can believe it or not, I could care less) that there were locker room murmurs about Shane Corson and Mogilny's wife... Corson left the team in a bizarre fashion but he was actually asked to step aside by management...

Tucker was married to Shannon Corson and Green was the third member of their squad. Not too sure about Cross...

I remember when Green visited Toronto for his first game on another team, Gary Roberts dropped gloves with him right off the bat.

A festering rift divided the Maple Leafs dressing room this season and culminated with most players skipping the team's traditional end-of-season get-together early yesterday.
Coach Pat Quinn and captain Mats Sundin acknowledged the split yesterday, but said it didn't hurt the team on the ice.
"Guys on this team ... (haven't) been the best of friends but there is respect for each player, everyone respects the next guy. There is no problem after that," said Sundin.
Almost all the players were expected at Hemingway's in Yorkville after the team arrived home from their 6-1 loss in Philadelphia, but only two players ? Darcy Tucker and Travis Green ? showed up.
They were joined by Shayne Corson, who has close ties to both players but who "resigned" from the team after Game 3 of the Flyers series.
Tucker and Green were seen making angry cell phone calls, but defencemen Jyrki Lumme and Aki Berg were the only other players to join them.
Some of the other players went to Sundin's Toronto home, some went to another bar and some went home to their families.

But Tie Domi seemed unhappy with some of his teammates.
On the charter flight home from Philadelphia, several Leafs were already talking about playing in the upcoming world championships.
"I'm just frustrated and upset," Domi said. "We have six guys (Aki Berg, Jyrki Lumme, Mikael Renberg, Robert Reichel, Robert Svehla and Phil Housley) going to the world championships today.
"I hope they all do well, but I just can't see how guys can pack up and leave and go and play in a world championships after being embarrassed like we were last night. That's definitely an eye opener for sure.
"I'm kind of shocked and surprised. I know guys have to represent their countries and everything, but I'd find that pretty hard to do right now. We get embarrassed last night. I don't know. I guess world championships mean a lot to some guys. Good luck to 'em."
The current rift resurrected bitterness in the dressing room stemming from another alleged incident last season in which Corson was accused of complaining about Jonas Hoglund's ice time.\

It was 10 years ago..... I mean seriously how and why are we bringing this up now? I mean it is another team having these issues... but yet again instead of focusing on that Simmons has to make some link to the Leafs even if it happened to have been a 1970's team he probably would have done it as well. No way he could have linked a similar story to the Flyers last year and basically why they dumped Richards and Carter in the offseason. That is more current that could be matched up.

I swear I should just move back to Canada and apply for a job at the Sun to replace Simmons. I could write better crap then this guy. I could even come up with more hair brained articles that I would basically just look at this forum and state from my "unnamed sources" I have a few ideas of what ails Leafs nation.

The Star has also really been going downhill in the past years. I've actually made more of an effort to read The Globe and Mails articles in regards to the Leafs.

Probably the least biased, of all of them... When I want news, I want teh facts.., not what some reporter "thinks" what will happen...

This is why the newspaper industry is starting to look more like "later copies" of the National Enquirer"... LOL! If they got back to basics, like the CBC & CTV National TV News, they would pick up their subscription count again..

Next thing we will have.., is an ET Canada program for Sports gossip... (oh, wait...! we already do... TSN..) LOL!

You would get my vote forsure.
Steve Simmons articles are amateur.

And even then some of those Sunshine Girls make me cringe.

Dave Feschuk is my media whipping boy, it's true about the papers, seriously downhill lately. The worst part is that most people who talk hockey just recite back what they read in these papers as factual.

It must be a slow time for the Sun's sports reporters when the have dredge up trash from the past to fill their bylines . The fact is I would be happy with a few bad boys to liven up the locker room and give the Leafs something to think about besides losing . maybe one whippng boy to take the pressure off the rest of the team when it comes to media slander .
