I must have missed one that deflected off his butt or something...lol. I stand corrected 37..hehehe. I can always count on my fellow TMLEFT team-mates to set me straight anyhow (thanks maplers, seer, puq, et al). I did reasonably well in math...i passed in h.s. anyhow, but man did I have to work at it. My math skills were not working for me there were they?

yb..he scored 37 last year..come on..get it right *LOL*. He scored 37/82pts but he is only a 30 goal scorer/65 point guy....sheesh it should be pretty clear by what sluggo says
Kessel won't score 37g next year under Carlyle...book it....I'd rather take Seguin any day of the week.
That being said, those efficiency ratings don't tell you much....

On the plus side if the team improves defensively, they might not need him to score 37 goals..

So Kessel wont be getting first line minutes under Carlye? Kessel wil score 45 goals this season BOOK that Dano
I agree, its not a stretch to say he could score 8 more goals, with healthy linemates and a good season by the team.

Didn't Perry, at 25 years old, score 50 goals and almost 100 pts, and, win the Hart and Rocket Richard Trophy a couple years ago with Carlyle behind the bench?
Didn't a 40 year old Selanne score over 30 goals and 80 pts a couple of years ago with Carlyle behind the bench?
Didn't Bobby Ryan become a 30+ goal scorer with Carlyle behind the bench?
I think it might be a bit far-fetched to think that Kessel is going to regress with Carlyle as coach.

But Carlyle doesn't teach that. What he wants is for everyone to be more defensively responsible, which doesn't necessarily detract from the offense.
You don't have to stand up at the other team's blueline waiting for a breakaway to score goals (and I'm not accusing Kessel of doing that). Some of Kessel's best goals (and assists) have come from him starting with the puck in his own end. A three-man breakout can be as effective as a long breakaway pass, and a solid defensive (and positional) game can lead to more scoring chances.

I'm not sure why some people think that players won't score with Carlyle coaching.

Nobody is saying he's going to regress. But he will be asked to play differently. You can see what happened to his production once Carlyle took over. I guarantee he doesn't get more than 35g next year...any takers on that bet?

I'll lay down 100 bucks on that bet.
