Our bonafide young goalie is Reimer. We don't need another one!!! He had a sloppy sophomore season which happens to everyone.Interesting, I thought they would go this route, but I hope it truly is a plan "B". I'd prefer them to try and get a bonafide young goalie (If possible).

Reimer is a 4th round pick who got lucky and played well for half a season with zero pressure. I really like the guy and hope he proves me wrong, but I don't see him as our goalie of the future.

He didn't exactly just come out of no where. He should have been the Marlies starter sooner, but he had some ankle troubles early on. He was the bonafide 3rd string guy before he was called up. It's not he all of the sudden just started to play well. He has the skills, he just still is fairly young and could use a season or two as the second guy before they shoulder everything on him.Reimer is a 4th round pick who got lucky and played well for half a season with zero pressure. Our GAA has been UNDER 90% every year since 2005. Except one where we just barely hit .900 That is not good enough clearly you have to have save percentage of at least, LEAST 90% or above (preferably above) to be playoff bound these days.
I say bring him on. Good job leafs, get vokoun! Reimer does not deserve to be the number one, make him earn it. As I mentioned above, we have been "anointing" saviors and number one goalies for about six/seven seasons, and where the hell has that gotten us exactly? No one is owed anything, especially the goalie your most important player on the ice (like a queen in chess) you dont **** around with stuff like that. Make Reimer earn it. He is a second rate goalie at best until proven otherwise.
1. Vokoun 2. Reimer/Scrivens.
I agree Reimer should have had more time to establish himself as a number one with the marls. I even think scrivs might supplant him. I'm not impressed by Reimer's injury history either.

I know lots of people will like this, but I still think Luongo is the better option (with a reasonable offer only of course). I said it once and I'll say it again, we will spend that money on crappy free agents either way, we might aswell spend it on quality players. It's not like we ever go all in to get top free agents anyway, instead of 1 star player in UFA, we just settle for 2 or 3 crappy players...And people say Luongo can't win in the postseason, how many rounds has Vokoun won and when was he really ever under pressure before?

So what, Vokoun was a 9th round pick and he has had a pretty successful career...many others aswell

This is the truth. Remier was overhyped we saw that in his his second, I probobly would go with scrivens before him. We should have traded him when he still had value. Playoff contending goalie duo Gustavsson, Luongo. But that would be impossible in leaf land. Oh well later Gustavsson hope you flourish with another team like I know you will. He was pried out of nowhere by Burke and has played well for what we got him for. Maybe if he had a proper protege and an above average team he could have worked into the team appropriatly. (raskk was a nobody till he left here). Hes got heart and soul, good luck man.....Reimer is a 4th round pick who got lucky and played well for half a season with zero pressure. I agree. Gustavsson got a raw deal when he was here. Wilson destroyed his confidence and that was it. I feel sorry for the guy but i'm sure he will succeed elsewhere...

Not sure we need players who's confidence can be destroyed so easily by a mild mannored coach with no emotion.
Not sure the NHL needs them either.

Players of all types of sports lose and regain their confidence at various points in their lives. Its just part of sports. Some times its because of an injury, sometimes its being in a slump and how they are handles by the coach amd GM's when they are in that slump especially when they are young, as so many are quick to point out that the leafs are one of the youngest teams in the league. If you do not understand that then it is clear you have never played any sport and have no idea how fragile a phsyci can be. The tough guys that have taken their own lives after their playing time is over sure seemed tough on the ice and did the job that they were asked to do all the while suffering inside. So I would not dismiss players that lose their confidence so easily

Excatly.
This whole "the coach killed their confidence, the trade deadline is too much for the players, the media and fans put to much pressure on them" are just more excuses from complacent fans. If a player can't handle some critism from a coach or the idea they might be traded, they shouldn't be on the team.
