--D Cody Franson is not approaching his second training camp as a Leaf with quite the excitement of the first.
He's an unsigned restricted free agent, and he's a little bitter about how 2011-12 unfolded. Acquired from Nashville for what he hoped was a top-four position on the blue line, he was an opening-night scratch of coach Ron Wilson. Several benchings later, he is now unsure where he stands under new man Randy Carlyle. With more defensemen trying out this autumn, Franson told TSN.ca he won't hurry into a new pact with the Leafs.

Does he now become one of the trade chips? Burke said he wasn't done...I hope Franson decides to stay shows a lot of promise!

Also Luongo may go to Chicago!

I personally feel Franson will either step up and prove he is worthy of that top 4 placement this summer, which
I personally find it hard to believe he can or he will be traded out. We have to many young prospects waiting
in the next couple of years to come in and a few of them I personally think will make a much greater impact
than Franson.

As for Luongo to Chicago, I doubt it. Vancouver is not likely going to trade him within their conference.
I believe Florida is in the front running, closely follower by the Leafs. I can see myself being content
with him here as he will make a solid impact, but at the same time I think it could be detrimental to our
team as well. Here's hoping Florida lands him and either Reimer or Scrivens have a breakout year.

He's got a great release on the PP and hits the net usually, would love to see him use his size more, maybe Carlyle can get him to! As for Luongo I think if Burke was doing it, it would be done by now.

Kind of old news, but again, he should be slotted in to play with Liles or Gardiner...so sign darn it!

Or else he'll be packaged off.

Even though it was just a side note to your comment, I want to shed light that the rumor floating around as of 10 minutes
ago is that Florida has stepped up their offer to match what Toronto is offering Vancouver.

The current rumor on Toronto's offer is Kulemin+1st+Komisarek for Luongo

I would accept this, only if the 1st is in the 2014.

edit: The same source now indicates Chicago has pulled out of the sweepstakes, not wanting to be apart
of the bidding war.

I will tell you I am not 100% certain as to the credibility of this source.

Nothing really new on this front. There were reports that Carlyle didn't like the work ethic of Franson, and that might of been the reasons to why he didn't use him much. Its always said that Carlyle really likes players who are regulars in the gym, and especially for someone playing on defense, and one of Franson's size, he needs to take full advantage of that. From what it sounded like to me when this report first came out about him having a poor work ethic, I thought of someone who was trying to get by on size and skill alone. You can't do that in the NHL, especially not at the top level.

If I were him I wouldn't want anything to do with Toronto. He is on his way to being a great defenceman and made a few bad plays and sat a lot for it. What defenceman on our team last year didn't have off nights? I hope he resigns here, I'd love to see him in our top 4.

There's more resources than HockeyInsider stating Toronto is in the lead....

You posted this information not ten minutes after he did. It's a pretty safe assumption.

Toronto also isn't in the "lead" according to anyone not on this forum. Florida is in the "lead".

Yeah I read somewhere that Carlyle will expect everyone to step up the physical workouts, he'l be driving a mean practice too! We don't want a team who can go all out the first twenty minutes, coast through the second and come alive again in the third, we need a full sixty minute effort by everyone!
Kulemin+1st+Komisarek for Luongo.....don't know I guess that might work! But I don't think I'd like to lose Schenn, Franson and Komi....mind you with Komi gone Franson would pretty well get a top 4 job!

That's cool. We'll see how it pans out. I haven't seen many people give Toronto much of an edge in the Luongo sweepstakes.

I wouldn't mind considering we has 3 maybe four Capable d coming up through our own ranks and even more coming out of Jr ranks into the Marlies. We are very deep defensively! I actually think this deal needs a Bozak to finish it off... I would pay it !!!

The deal that hockeyyinsiderr is "reporting" that the Panthers are offering is

Versteeg/Gudbranson/Weiss
1st round pick

Which is our version of

Gardiner/Lupul/Grabovski
1st round pick

Tallon made it clear that Kris Versteeg filing for salary arbitration yesterday only means that the Panthers timetable to wrap him up is a tad shorter. He reiterated that he expects Versteeg to be a Panther for a long time.

http://blogs.sun-sen...t-versteeg.html

I'm pretty sure Tallon isn't that stupid, Versteeg and Weiss no chance!

There’s a guy on Twitter who goes by the name @HockeyyInsiderr. He’s a highly typical fake insider: he guesses often, repackages information available in newspaper and other media as his own

Here are his Tweets:

I'm pretty sure Bozak would be a fit as they need a 2nd C while Keslers out!
